International Women’s Day 2022
8.3.22We thought we’d celebrate International Women’s Day by giving a shout out to some of the brilliant female artists who have played at Lancaster Jazz Festival over the years.
We’re always looking at how we can make our submission process and our commissioning as inclusive as possible – if you’ve any suggestions about how we can improve, we’d love to hear them!
In no particular order, here are just some amazing of the amazing jazz musicians, composers and improvisers who have recently played at Lancaster Jazz Festival.
Camilla George

Maja Bugge
Maja is a cellist, composer and cello teacher. We’re also lucky enough to have Maja as one of our board of Trustees! Find out more about Maja Bugge and her work at majabugge.com.
Nishla Smith

Emma Johnson
Emma Johnson is a saxophonist and composer and has played at Lancaster Jazz Festival with her band Emma Johnson’s Gravy Boat. Emma will also be taking part in our Evolve commission this year. Find out more about Emma Johnson: www.johnsonmusic.co.uk
Sarah Heneghan
Sarah Heneghan is a mutli-instrumentalist and composer. Sarah has played at the festival as part of Beyond Albedo, she also has a solo project Power Out.
Vula Viel

Charlotte Keeffe

J Frisco

Ariane Mamon

Polly Virr
