Charlotte Keeffe – Right Here, Right Now
With her Right Here, Right Now Quartet, Charlotte enables raw musical ingredients, her (a)live compositions, and individual expressions to playfully come together and just be. She is captivated by trumpeters like Tomasz Stańko, Nate Wooley and Lester Bowie, and inspired by abstract painters – referring to her horns as ‘Sound Brushes’.
“…Overtly over-blowing, splitting, splattering, squirming, squeaking and squealing out ALIVE! Howling and hooting, chomping and chaffing…
dusty, distorted, flimsy, fragile, manic, ghostly, guttural sound strokes rip through whirlwinds and whirlpools of wholesome gooey-sound-dough!
A turbulent tease, staggering, swaying, abruptly plunging into intentional vagueness…a messy emporium of raw, raucous realness. Alive.
RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW.
It is as it is…” Charlotte Keeffe“Charlotte is one of the most exciting improvisers in the UK, and her shows are equal parts energetically joyous and delicately moving!”
For this special show, the band will be joined on some numbers by some local musicians. Charlotte will be hosting a workshop at the festival to prepare for this. See the Innovation Hub for more details.
