‘Skylla’ is the solo project of composer and bassist Ruth Goller, featuring bass guitar harmonics sparkling underneath other-worldly three-part harmonies.

Skylla’s sound, despite its highly conceptual origins, is heavy with human emotion. Its dark washes of melody and contrapuntal percussion could fit easily on a mixtape with indie downbeat/ennui royalty like Grouper or Low, while also feeling at home next to a Cage-Tudor prepared piano piece. The sibilant ice age siren song heard in Goller’s powerfully feminine vocal arrangements find her in an otherworld only occasionally inhabited by the likes of Björk and The Knife.

On their second album, ‘Skyllumina’, they were joined by some of Europe’s most outstanding drummers and percussionists, with go-to London drummer Will Glaser featuring in the live band.

They sold out their 2022 show at the festival and we are very excited to have them back and playing at Lancaster Priory.
