Reflecting on the contemporary yet timeless struggles of physical and ideological displacement, Valia Calda’s music draws inspiration from the themes of migration and exile. The groups 2023 album ‘Homeland’ received several ‘Best of…’ awards and widespread radio play.
Their music is rooted in both the folk music of Epirus in Greece and psychedelic jazz, tangled with punk inspired guitar riffs and hypnotic improvisations.
Valia Calda integrates a wide spectrum of sounds, mixing their long meditative improvisations and psychedelic aesthetics with elements from folk traditions and explosive drum beats.
